In KitchenAid refrigerators, there are two main places to put the filters. One is located in the upper right-hand corner inside your refrigerator. Another is located in the left side of the refrigerator’s base grille.
If your filter is located in the upper right-hand corner inside your refrigerator, first open the filter door, pull out the old filter at the right angle and throw it away. Take the orange cap off the new filter and remove the protective coverings from the O-rings. Insert the new filter and make sure the arrow is pointing upward. Then push the filter door closed so it snaps into place.
If your filter is located in the left side of the refrigerator’s base grille, push the eject button to release the filter and remove black filter cap by turning it clockwise, pull the old filter out and discard it. Then remove the blue cap from the new filter and be sure the O-rings are still in place after the cap has been removed. Place the black filter cap on the new cartridge so the ridges align. Turn the cap clockwise to lock into place. When inserting the new filter, make sure the arrow is pointing upward. Finally, push the filter in until the eject button pops back out.
After replacing a new filter, press and hold the button for three seconds. If the system is reset successfully, the water filter icon will return to blue color and the words “Replace Filter” will disappear from the display.
